AGENDA jalan-jalan saya di 2012 sudah ditetapkan pada akhir tahun lalu, yaitu kelak di awal September nanti – persis 9 hari berkeliling Osaka, Kyoto dan Tokyo. Itu saja. Tidak ada negara lain dalam daftar resolusi tahun ini. Cukup satu. Satu kali dalam setahun untuk liburan ke luar negeri sudah lebih dari sekedar rasa syukur.
Namun, keberangkatan saya ke Thailand di salah satu weekend di bulan Maret lalu, telah mematahkan rencana tersebut. Bersama simbok venus, kami menjemput keberuntungan dari sebuah kontes yang sering kali kami kutuki: lantaran tak pernah menang. Lalu dengan adanya kabar bahwa saya menjadi salah satu kandidat penerima Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) dari Rotaract Club Istanbul, genap turut melengkapi agenda jalan jalan saya di tahun ini!
Tepat pada 26 April lalu, saya dan rekan saya Monika, terbang bersama Qatar Airways. Iya iya.. saya tahu ini cerita lawas, tapi berhubung waktu yang tak sempat serta kerjaan yang berlarat-larat maka postingan RYLA ini baru lahir di penghujung Juni :p
Anyway, perjalanan selama 14 jam di pesawat ini merupakan perjalanan pertama saya ke Eropa. Ini adalah perjalanan terjauh saya setelah sebelumnya sempat merasakan tiga musim di Australia. Nah, yang membedakan perjalanan saya kali ini adalah mendapati fakta bahwa Istanbul menjadi the top 5 cities yang menjadi tujuan utama backpacker dunia. Maka bayangan saya akan ramahnya pertemanan backpacker lintas budaya sudah tersusun rapih di otak belakang.
Then back to the award, jadilah di RYLA tersebut saya bertemu dengan teman-teman Rotractor dari 16 negara yang berbeda. Saya dan Monika menjadi satu satunya peserta yang paling berbeda. Satu-satunya berkulit kuning langsat dengan ukuran tubuh mini yang membuat kami tampak seperti kurcaci di tengah kumpulan raksasa-raksasa Eropa 😀
Dengan total 33 peserta, kami mengikuti berbagai sesi yang diberikan oleh trainer internasional dari Istanbul. Materi mengenai passion dan capacity building bukan merupakan hal yang baru, namun yang berdiskusi dengan orang-orang berlatar belakang budaya berbeda, tentu dapat memperkaya perspektif dan khasanah. Bertempat di Hyatt Istanbul, RYLA kali ini juga dipadati dengan agenda semisal treasury hunt, cultural/networking session, serta city tour bersama para panitia.
Nah, berhubung saya bukan tipe blogger yang suka posting panjang-panjang, detil mengenai perjalanan jauh ini akan saya dedah di postingan-postingan selanjutnya ya. Ya lumayanlah buat bahan update haha… *blogger murtad*
